In an interview with Swisster, auctioneer Simon de Pury paints a picture of the international art world and says that after London and New York, Switzerland is one of the planet's most important markets.
Auctioneer Simon de Pury says the market for art remains vibrant despite the economic downturn and Switzerland is one of the hotspots for dealers. The chairman of Phillips de Pury, a contemporary art auction house based in New York and London, spoke on Wednesday to a luncheon meeting in Geneva organized by the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. In an audio interview with Swisster after the event, the veteran auctioneer, who began his career with Sotheby's, sketched an overview of the current art market in economically challenging times. And he noted that some of the best exhibitions and galleries in the world are located in Switzerland. He pinpointed a few must-sees.
